Although relatively unknown in the industry, Sager has actually been making portable computers since 1985. As the company focuses exclusively on laptops, it has been able to stay on top of new technologies and trends and continue to deliver advanced, high-end notebook computers.

Currently, Sager laptops are divided into three categories by processor. The Intel Pentium 4 category focuses on the gaming market primarily, with a large 17” active matrix display that is enhanced for viewing from the sides. The category of Sager notebooks that contain Intel’s Centrino chipset, on the other hand, is designed for true mobile computing. With the Centrino, battery life is extended due to a decrease in power consumption, while still packing enough power to run even the slowest of business applications. A dual core processor option is also available, as are peripherals such as built in digital cameras and card readers. With the screen size ranging from 12.1” to 15.4”, these notebooks are designed to be lightweight, with the lightest version of this model at 2.8 pounds, which is music to the ears of a frequent traveler.

And for the ultimate in high-end laptops, Sager has two models based on AMD processors, the 5960 which contains the Turion, and the 9750 outfitted with AMD’s Athlon processor. With a choice between a 17” and a huge 20” display, these notebooks definitely turn heads, and the graphics cards are top of the line, with 512 MB of memory. The 9750 even comes with a RAID controller, which is a way of connecting hard drives so that one can back up the other in real time, something previously unheard of in a laptop.

Sager also makes it easy to receive service on their laptops, by contacting them through their customer service line or their website. So, if one needs to repair or replace components such as the keyboard on a Sager laptop, it is easy to do. Despite flying under the industry’s radar for so long, Sager has put out an excellent product, and they back it up.
