So you went out and bought the best laptop you could find, complete with a dual core processor, 2 gigs of memory, and a combo DVD burner. The next obvious question is, what can I do with it? It turns out that there’s a wealth of software out there that will run just as good on laptops as it runs on desktop computers. Software can be used to do just about anything on a portable computer these days.

While high end games with a lot of graphics will not run very well on cheap notebook computers, the more expensive ones will handle them just fine. These days, manufacturers cram tons of advanced graphics processing hardware and video RAM into very small laptop computer cases. And graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop will also run fine on all but the cheapest quality laptops, provided there is enough memory to handle the advanced calculations that are involved in editing photos.

Desktop publishing software for notebooks is also available, including Microsoft Office, Print Shop Pro, and others. Many people find that using their laptop to use software such as this makes them more productive, as they can work on their documents wherever they go.

And your operating system will most likely include software used to watch videos and listen to music, so this is something that you will not have to buy, especially if you bought the computer recently. So you can listen to your favorite CD by Pink on your laptop without having to purchase any special program.

Laptop software can be found pretty much anyplace you can buy laptops, cheap or otherwise, including Circuit City, Best Buy, laptop and desktop outlet stores. You can even find used software for your notebook computer online, at auction and classified sites. Just be careful that the software comes with the original packaging, activation code, and manual to ensure that it is not pirated, meaning that the seller copied it onto a blank CD or DVD himself.

So go out there and load up your hard drive with the latest software, because what good is a new, high performance laptop if you can’t use it?
